Georgia Organization of Nurse Leaders
Georgia Organization of Nurse Leaders is organized for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes as a not-for-profit association.
The purposes of the GONL shall be:
to promote and enhance the practice of nursing administration and leadership in a health care setting;
to provide activities for its members that will help them to develop skills in nursing administration and leadership and in the management of human, material, and financial resources;
to represent nursing administrators in their dealings with the Association;
to provide a communication vehicle for the dissemination of information on current practices, new knowledge or technology;
to provide a forum on health care issues and explore and explain the impact of these issues on hospitals and nursing practice;
to provide to the Association upon its request, assistance and resources in the GONL's area of expertise; and
to foster and promote a collegial working relationship with other health care administrators, medical practitioners, and nursing educators in the districts and the state.
GONL Members
GONL Members shall consist of persons who are Registered Nurses currently in management positions in health care institutions/systems and are also:
the nurse leader(s) holding the highest level management position(s) in nursing in a health care institution/system; and
holding line management positions with operational responsibility, including patient care management, human resource management, and fiscal and material resource management, who may or may not be accountable to the highest level management position in nursing in a health care institution/system.
Membership Categories
There are four classes of GONL membership:
Personal Member
For persons employed by a GHA Member, defined as hospitals and health systems.
Personal Affiliate
For persons employed by GHA affiliate organizations in an area similar to the society's expertise.
Personal Associate
For persons employed by GHA associate firms and faculty members or graduate students pursuing health-related studies in an area similar to the society's expertise.
Personal Non-Associate
Any individual not employed by a GHA member organization, but employed by a firm eligible for affiliate or associate membership, or otherwise engaged in a particular society's area of expertise and providing an ongoing service to GHA members or the society.
Applications for this category of membership must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from a member chief executive officer or a society officer of the affiliated society for which application is being made. |
